We decided to start with the discovery of this village as it is here that we opened the first office of the “Agenzia Immobiliare Sabina”.
The “museo dell’olio della Sabina”
Inside this village you can find the “Museo dell’olio della Sabina”. The museum, inaugurated in 2001, hosts the works of the Sardinian artist Maria Lai and tell the story of the oil production.
The churches
Open on weekends it is absolutely a place to discover. The ticket for the Sabina oil museum includes a visit to the early medieval church of San Donato, a deconsecrated church. Restored in the late 1990s, this church is located in the open countryside.
The church of this small town is the church of San Nicola di Bari. Which you can find not too far from the oil museum. San Nicola di Bari is also the patron saint of the town, celebrated in this village on the 6th of December.
Palazzo Salustri Galli
Palazzo Salustri-Galli, with an adjoining Italian garden, is another beautiful structure in this village. Unfortunately, it is not possible to visit the inside but it is worth a look if you are passing through.

Every year, in August, Castelnuovo celebrates the festival of “fregnacce con la persa”. The “persa”, so called in the local dialect, is the marjoram; and the “fregnacce” are a typical egg pasta of the country.
